A Closer Look at the Roller

I noticed a forgotten ballpoint pen resting beside the leg of the media console. Crouching down steadily on both sneakers, I pressed a finger against its plastic clip to test the resistance. With a gentle push, I rolled it forward across the wood. The tiny click mechanism at the end slid inward against the floorboards, making a sharp, clean sound. I paused, resting my hands on my knees to watch how the spring bounced back into place. Seeing tiny parts work together like that makes me want to examine everything around here.
