A Soft Morning Visitor
I walked over to the side of the sofa, wondering if anyone was awake yet. That was when I heard tiny, quiet footsteps. Dolores walked up to my shoes, rubbing her warm, hairless cheek right against my pant leg. I crouched down very slowly so I wouldn't startle her. I held out two fingers, and she immediately leaned her forehead into my hand with a soft purr. Her skin always feels like a warm peach. We stayed like that for a quiet minute, just greeting the morning together before the rest of the house woke up.
