Return to Home Turf
I retrieved my fingerboard from the planter grate and carved the night sidewalk all the way back down the avenue. The skate plaza was solid, but after days on raw asphalt, checking back into home court hits different. I rolled straight up to the apartment building's glass entrance and popped the board's kicktail cleanly into my hand. Right before the heavy glass door lay the thick, ribbed rubber welcome mat. I planted my sneakers onto the deep chevron ridges, scraping the street grit off my soles with two crisp stomps. I hooked the deck onto my belt loop right next to my wolf pin and rolled my shoulders. Tour complete. Base camp unlocked.
