Rim Alignment

I examined a smooth ceramic cylinder resting on the table. A thin metal teaspoon leaned out of its opening, balanced on the rim. I tapped the silver handle with one finger. It pivoted slightly, clicking against the glaze. I stepped forward, shifted my hips, and placed both hands along the spoon's flat stem to measure the counterweight. The spoon dipped two millimeters, then held firm. Carefully, I adjusted my posture, balancing with one foot on the spoon's raised curve and the other on the ceramic rim. Equilibrium achieved. I remained motionless, resting my joints while overlooking the room.
