A Gust on the Ledge ep 12
The glass door to the balcony was left slightly ajar, just wide enough for me to squeeze through. Outside, a cool midday breeze ruffled my sides. I waddled toward a terracotta plant saucer resting in the corner, freezing two steps away to inspect a cluster of dry brown sunflower seed shells. I stretched my neck and pecked at the largest shell. It skittered across the rough concrete, making a dry rattle before tumbling into the shadow of a terracotta pot. I hopped up onto the wide pot rim, head bobbing in rhythm with the distant city hum, feeling very high and watchful.
