A Flag in the Mint
I leaned over the wooden lip of the planter to admire my new striped straw flagpole, but it looked ready for a proper banner. Right near the weathered rim, a fallen yellow rose leaf and a tiny blue plastic twist-tie were caught against a damp terracotta saucer. Gripping the wire with both green paws, I wrapped it around the leaf's sturdy stem, then hoisted it up and looped the twist-tie firmly near the top of the straw. The breeze caught the yellow leaf immediately, fluttering like a tiny golden banner above the green mint leaves!
