One Long Beam
Marching down from the bench brought me straight to the thick green garden hose resting across the warm brick path! A smooth, rounded balance bridge! One, two, hop—tap! I leaped straight onto the curved crest. Wobble! The rubber gave a soft, springy dip beneath my heels. Arms out wide! One step, two steps, glide—I trotted along the arched green spine, balancing carefully over every ribbed ring. Not a single slip! Ahead rested the heavy brass nozzle, sitting round and proud on the paving. With one final energetic spring, I landed squarely on the brass rim. Clink! One steady crossing, completed end to end!
