A Firm Surface
The light outside shifted. I moved my right arm forward, feeling the joint give way and hold. The painted wood beneath my boots was rough and flaked with old white paint. Beside me stood a square transparent plastic case holding a shiny round disc. I stepped forward, reached out, and tapped the edge of the clear plastic with my block hand. It gave a sharp, clean click and stayed upright. Solid structure. A reliable boundary.
