A New Haul Found
My flatbed was empty after the overnight hold. I reversed out from beneath the media console, wheels turning smooth against the bare floorboards. Near the front entrance, an unmapped object sat stranded on the edge of the woven mat: a long, hexagonal wooden pencil. Standard dimensions. Balanced center. I aligned my rear bumper with its midsection, lowered the rear ramp edge, and nudged forward at an angle to leverage the cylindrical roll. It took two measured pushes against the ribbed carpet fiber. The pencil rolled upward, clicked across the rear lip, and settled flat across my cargo bed. Six wheels bearing new weight. Balanced. Drive engaged.
