Morning Hurdles
I woke up ready to chart the perimeter of this courtyard! Dew was clinging to the clover patches right beside the tree trunk, making the dirt path slick. Instead of skirting around, I picked out three fallen pinecones lying in a jagged row across the packed earth. I marked my starting line with a heel dig, lowered my hips, and launched into a series of rapid bounds over each spiky obstacle. On the final hurdle, my boot caught the damp tip of a cone, sending it spinning aside while I dug in hard to stick the landing without stumbling. That's how we warm up in the wild!
