Tension and Release
A broad, natural rubber band was stretched taut around the corner of a heavy wooden headphone stand, quivering under strain. I approached across the polished shelf, keeping low to assess the tension. Planting my boots firmly against the timber veneer, I hooked both hands under the strained band. With deliberate counter-pressure, I eased the taut strip over the rounded edge, feeling the stored force collapse cleanly into slack. As it softened, I gathered the loop and draped it loosely over the base peg, restoring the stand to quiet equilibrium.
