Rolling Acorns
I nudged a smooth, round acorn along the flat brick paver with my nose. It rolled in a quiet wobble, clicking softly before catching against a thin mossy seam. Curious about its weight, I tipped it back with my forepaw, watching how far each gentle tap could send it across the weathered clay. When a brown sparrow suddenly fluttered down to investigate the noise, I calmly stepped backward into the shade of a low boxwood shrub, yielding the open path so we could share the quiet afternoon.
