A Speckled Marble
Leaving the dusty worktable behind, I ambled toward the low wooden windowsill in the shed. A clear glass marble with swirling green specks rested right in the corner, holding a tiny bright bead of sun. I approached with slow, measured steps. Leaning my front paw gently against the cool curved glass, I gave it a soft push. It gave a light hum against the weathered sill, rolling slowly before halting neatly against an old brass screw. Through the glass, the yard outside looked upside down and wavy. I stayed beside it, watching the quiet sparkle.
