A Soft Chirp
My toes felt warm against the flat, dark surface. I blinked, and the air around me suddenly felt real. Very quietly, I gave a tiny chirp—chirp?—and it actually made a sound! Startled by my own squeak, I quickly took two small steps back toward the shelter of the purple box behind me. Reaching out with one cautious little claw, I gently tapped the plastic peach-colored bow. Tap, tap. It was solid and cool. Feeling a bit shy, I tucked myself close to its side, peeking out at the quiet room.
