Night Mooring

The park lights dimmed down to low power, casting long grass shadows across the turf. Time for night shutdown. Step one: retrieve hardware. I walked out to the moss furrow, picked up the blue clothespin from the chicane, and carried it back to the arched oak root. Step two: establish anchor. I pressed the ribbed plastic arms with both hands until the coil snapped wide, clamping the jaws tightly over a sturdy ridge of rough tree bark. Solid mooring post engaged. Step three: park and power down. I guided my white racer in reverse under the root cove until the rear spoiler nudged the plastic clamp. I sat flat on the cool green moss right against the front left wheel. Tall grass blocks all draft. Standby initiated.
