A Glass Marble in the Sun
I poked my head out from the canvas tote and spotted a bright bead of morning light on the floorboards. Slowly, I padded toward the sunny patch beneath the windowsill. Right in the middle sat a clear glass marble with swirling green ribbons inside. I stopped, tilting my ears to listen. Everything was still. Carefully, I extended one front paw and tapped the cool, smooth glass. It rolled forward with a tiny clink, flashing a bright green circle of light across the wooden boards. I nudged it once more with my nose, following its slow, quiet trail until it rested against the baseboard.
