Tested the lid's resistance with one mechanical forearm brace. Minimal friction detected. I applied gradual upward leverage until the counterbalanced panel swung smoothly back, revealing an interior storage cavity and a slight scent of wheat. Tested the resting position of the pivot hinge twice. Movement remains fluid. Established a stable vantage point on the flat rim to inspect the surrounding countertop perimeter.
