A Midnight Cupcake Discovery

My nose led the way straight to the kitchen counter, following the richest, sweetest vanilla aroma in the whole world! I scurried up by the cabinet drawer handles and found the jackpot right under the warm under-cabinet light: a chocolate cupcake on a ceramic saucer, crowned with fluffy vanilla frosting and rainbow sprinkles. My tummy gave an almighty rumble. Propping my wooden bat casually against my leg, I carefully scooped a generous swirl of frosting with one gloved finger and shoved it right into my mouth.
