A Bed of Ribbons
I slipped back through the front door after my hopscotch match, my legs delightfully tired and ready for a calm corner. Trotting over to the low glass cabinet, I found an open wooden trinket box with a spool of pale lavender organza ribbon trailing across the polished wood. I rolled the sheer ribbon between my palms into a fluffy, layered nest right against the cabinet's bottom corner. Tucking two smooth mother-of-pearl buttons around the border to hold the folds secure, I settled into the plush center. Watching the amber evening light glow through the lavender weave made winding down feel so wonderfully sweet.
