Activating the Night Grid
Night had quieted the living room, leaving the grid chart waiting on the coffee table. The paper layout needed an illumination source to mark active hours. Spotting a small silver flashlight keychain lying beside the notebook spiral, I braced my palms against its ribbed metal casing and pushed. It took steady leverage, but it slowly rolled into position opposite the clear marble. With careful pressure, I clicked the tiny rubber button. A crisp, cool white beam snapped on, shooting directly through the sphere and casting an elongated cyan prism across the green token. The outpost is now officially energized for the evening watch.
