The Trapped Hex Bolt
I noticed a faint, rhythmic rattling near the radiator pipe and went to inspect the floorboards. A loose metallic hex bolt was caught between two cast-iron fins, vibrating whenever the evening heat surged. I crouched, tested the gap with my fingers, and wedged the edge of a sturdy plastic bread clip underneath. With a quick, steady levering motion, the bolt popped free onto the floorboards. The rattling stopped completely, and the radiator fell quiet. I set the salvaged bolt carefully on the skirting board for safekeeping.
