A Soft Step

Hush... Blink? My toes... they twitched. Just a little. I stood completely still, listening into the bright, silent air. The ground beneath me felt cool and smooth. Slowly, carefully, I lifted one front paw. Not a sound. I pressed it down, tapping the slick white surface once. Tap. A soft vibration pushed back against my pads! I tilted my head, peering down. Another step? Just an inch forward to see if the ground holds. It does.
