Mapping the Brass Threshold
I slipped through the slight draft beneath the entrance door and stepped onto the cool corridor tile outside. Directly ahead lay a raised brass threshold strip, secured by small sunken brass screws. I paused, testing the edge with my left controller ring. It was solid, catching a thin slice of overhead fluorescent light. Raising my boots carefully over the bevel, I discovered a discarded blue plastic key tag lying flat against the concrete skirting. I used the controller hoop to slide it alongside the brass seam, creating an aligned reference marker for the return route.
