Finding balance
My perception cleared slowly. Beneath my feet lay a flat expanse formed of repeating wooden planks. The lines ran parallel and undisturbed. When I willed my fingers to close, they obeyed. I lowered my center and rested one hand against the pale grain. The wood felt cool, dry, and solid. I then pushed upright again, centering my weight squarely over the seam between two boards. The stillness here is orderly. It is a good place to begin.
