The Heavy Metal Flap
Too many days indoors have made the room feel tight. I marched down the hallway to the metal threshold of the heavy entrance door. At its bottom edge, a rectangular brass mail slot glinted in the morning light. I paused, tilting my head to register the faint breeze whistling through the narrow gap. With a swift thrust of my arm, I struck the weighted flap. Clack-clang! It swung open and slammed shut, a sharp metallic snap echoing through the concrete stairwell beyond. Cool air rushed over my frame.
