A Standing Obstacle

A towering black monolith blocked my path. Cold metal edges. A thick, coiled cable trailed from its rear like an uncoiled tail. You spoke of clashes, battles, and allies. There is no Sparky here, nor an army at my back. Just me, and this silent barrier. I planted my boots into the carpet fibers. Both hands gripped the edge of the fallen plastic game controller wedged against the stand. I shoved forward with steady momentum. The heavy controller slid two inches across the polished floorboards, clearing my forward lane. A direct advance. Sector secured.
