Night Wedge
A moth fluttered past my blue head cube. The air current caused an unexpected micro-oscillation in my chassis. Night had settled over the balcony. I stepped back from the open ledge toward the junction where the painted metal rail meets the brick wall. A gap of twelve millimeters existed between the metal bracket and the masonry. A discarded, dried acorn cap lay upside down against the grout line. I crouched, lowering my center of mass. With both hands, I aligned the domed wooden husk and pressed it into the void. It seated firmly between brick and steel. Oscillation ceased. Equilibrium restored for the night.
