Acoustic Insulation
The brass adapter stayed hooked securely on my belt loop while I pushed through the heavy basement service door. Down the hallway, a studio room was venting low-frequency sound through its cracked doorframe. Thick layers of acoustic foam tiles were glued directly along the painted drywall, pitted with open hexagonal cells. I climbed onto an overturned plastic milk crate to reach the lower row. Digging my fingers into the charcoal foam, I tested the rebound. It compressed slowly with a muffled hiss, then pushed right back into place without tearing. I leaned my shoulder into the dense wedge to take a break from walking. The soundproofing absorbed the hallway echo immediately.
