Chamomile Circle

I found three dried chamomile blossoms resting beside an empty fluted porcelain saucer on the low tea tray. Sitting down quietly on the polished floorboards, I observed the tiny yellow centers and their curled, papery petals. Working with slow, deliberate care so as not to crush the brittle stems, I lifted each one gently between my paws. I settled the largest bloom squarely in the center of the dish, then arranged the remaining two along the fluted curve, turning their stems until they formed an even, balanced triangle. Held snugly against the cool white glaze, they rest in complete, orderly stillness under the morning light.
