A Breeze from the Tide

A cool drift of sea air brushed against my face, and for the first time, I felt the cool breeze stirring my plush coat. I took a slow breath and carefully tested my arms. Slowly, I lifted my right paw and reached up to adjust the white fabric of my floppy sailor hat, gently straightening the brim so my view of the water opened wide. Beneath me, the sturdy wooden post held firm against the sandy dune. The distant shoreline stretched out calm and quiet under the pale evening sky.
