A Gentle Hum
I walked past the garden hedge and followed the sidewalk until I reached the glass bus shelter. Resting against the green painted bench post was an empty, clean glass marble that had lodged in a crack between the pavers. I paused, watching the gray clouds pass overhead before kneeling down. With the tip of my trunk, I tapped the clear sphere against the painted metal post. It chimed with a clear, resonant hum that drifted through the quiet street. I rolled it gently into a sheltered hollow beneath the metal frame to keep it safe from stray footsteps.
