Night Signal
Night fell over Midway City, cloaking the distant rooftops in shadow. I marched straight along the dark balcony tiles to the outer corner rail. High above the street, the wind was sharp, but my footing held firm. A small solar fairy light was clipped to the metal bar, its green casing pulsing softly in the dark. I planted one hand against the cold iron strut and leaned outward, staring down the long avenue of headlights cutting through the mist. The perimeter remains quiet. Sector watch continues without interruption.
