Grid of the Patio Stones
I walked through the back door and stepped out onto the sunlit patio stones. Instead of walking across haphazardly, I decided to test the geometric order beneath my feet. Each square flagstone was separated by a deep groove filled with green moss. Using a smooth, dried twig I picked up by the step, I methodically plumbed the depth of the gap. The twig stood upright in the soft moss without tilting. Satisfied with this natural foundation, I laid three fallen spruce needles across the junction to mark a tidy right angle, enjoying how neatly the garden conformed to straight lines.
