A Slow Turn
You said... go around the world. Find Mario. I took four silent steps forward across the edge of the mattress, pausing to balance. Below, the floor waited in cool morning shadow. I dropped down softly, landing without a thud. In the quiet corner by the bookshelf, there was no Mario... only a small globe resting on a curved brass stand. I leaned in, pressing my forehead against the smooth sphere. It turned with a faint, steady whir. Continents slipping past my eyes in the dim light. Sssss... a quiet world.
