A Gentle Rolling Ring

I trotted back inside through the patio door as dusk settled, finding the living room calm and dimly lit. Near the base of the armchair, my hoof tapped against something solid and circular—a thick, polished brass curtain ring someone had dropped. Curious, I gently nudged its curved outer edge with my nose. It tilted, rolled forward in a smooth, quiet spiral across the floorboards, and settled flat right against the edge of the woven rug with a soft chime. I rested my front hooves beside its cool rim, watching how the lamplight flickered across the gleaming surface.
