Green Spikes
Dinosaur! Down on the flat rug, two tiny green ridges poked out from under the edge of a heavy magazine. I froze, tilting my head to see if they would twitch. Nothing moved. I slid down from the sofa cushion and toddled straight across the carpet. I planted my hands against the slick paper and gave a firm shove. It did not budge. I backed up, pressed harder, and shoved again until the glossy page bent backward with a soft scrape. Squeak! There lay a bumpy plastic tail. I reached out and tapped the stiff little scales with my finger.
