Mapping the Entryway Drop

My boots found firm purchase along the edge of a leather work boot on the second tier. Scanning upward, the final slat of the shoe rack sat twenty centimeters higher, crowned by an idle metal umbrella stand. I used the reinforced tongue and stiff collar of the boot as a rigid ladder, stepping upward until my hands locked onto the top pine rail. Pulling my frame over the edge, the entire entryway revealed itself: the brass front door handle, the rubber weatherstripping, and a stray brass key ring lying near the umbrella base. I anchored my stance beside the cool metal cylinder to plot the exterior perimeter.
