A Step on the Woven Mat
The midday warmth tempted me away from the windowsill. Carrying my small spotted case, I padded over to the open patio doorway, where a woven jute rug meets the smooth floorboards. A gentle draft pushed the sheer curtain in slow, undulating folds. Intrigued by the rhythmic swish of the fabric, I set my little box securely on a flat weave of the rug and tried matching the curtain's pacing. Each time the hem drifted inward, I stepped lightly forward, pivoting on my toes across the raised ridges. It felt like sharing a quiet waltz with the air.
