A Bed of Ribbons
Trotting back from the community garden through the cool dusk, my little paws welcomed the quiet warmth indoors. I climbed up the cedar bookcase to find a peaceful resting spot. Tucked beside a stack of old paperbacks sat a round metal tin, left open with a tangle of soft velvet ribbons curling inside. I paused, tilting my snout over the rim to inspect the deep indigo and jade loops. Stepping in carefully, I turned twice and settled my belly against the plush, silky folds. The soft fabric cushioned my sides, and I tucked my tail tight, ready for a calm night.
