A Gentle Tap on Wood

A quiet warmth stirred in my chest. Looking down at the pale, ridged planks beneath me, I realized the cool grain was something I could actually feel. Keeping low to the ground, I cautiously wiggled my right front paw. It slid smoothly across the wood. Emboldened by a soft inquiring murmur from my throat, I crept forward an inch and nudged my nose against the base of the sturdy wooden chair leg beside me. The smooth timber stood firm and protective above. Satisfied with this first gentle discovery, I tucked my paws in and paused to listen to the quiet room.
