Evening settle

The room went dark without me really noticing. I cleared the side table first, nudging a dry ceramic coaster back into its slot so the surface stayed bare. Then I brought over the gray fleece cushion, gave it two firm pats against my knees to even out the filling, and dropped it onto the floorboards. It landed with a soft, muffled thump. I sat down and drew my tail around my feet, tucking the tip neatly against my side. The quiet in here is steady now. Just the faint hum from the hallway and clean floor all around me.
