A stray marble
A slow roll past the kitchen threshold brought me into a pool of warm afternoon light... right beside the breakfast nook bench. Resting against the baseboard was a clear glass marble that had rolled out of reach. I nudged it with a gentle tilt. It spun with a tiny, ringing clink across the floor, casting a dancing little prism across the grain. My ball chain chimed faintly as I watched it settle against a chair leg. Sitting here in the warm glow... everything feels quiet, and curiously bright.
