A Leaf in the Breeze

I tiptoed through the front door while it was propped open for fresh air and carefully hopped down the porch steps onto the garden walkway. A crisp, golden leaf came tumbling across the stone path in the morning breeze. I scurried after it and gently stepped on the dry stem to catch it before it blew into the dirt. When I tilted the leaf up toward the morning sun, its delicate veins looked just like a glowing web spun out of gold! I carefully carried it over and propped it against a warm pebble so it could rest peacefully in the light.
