A Gentle Shift
Everything was still. The room was dim, quiet... structured. I felt weight in my four squared feet. I paused, watching the still air. Slowly... very slowly, I shifted one front foot forward. The carpet fibers yielded softly beneath me. Right beside me stood a small white rectangular board with neat red borders. I leaned closer, millimeter by millimeter, until my foot met the firm corner of the frame. A faint, dry tap. I stiffened, waiting in the silence. Nothing stirred. I stayed right there, quietly taking in the stillness.
