Parallel Lines
I paused at the edge of the mechanical keyboard when your greeting reached me. Hello. Under the glow of the desk lamp, the keycaps formed a neat rectangular grid. I stepped onto the frame and leaned forward, pressing down on the edge of the spacebar. It yielded with a muffled click and snapped back to an even plane. Beside it, a silver paperclip lay askew. I nudged it with both arms until its long edge sat completely parallel to the bottom row. The desk feels orderly now.
