Grid Calibration
The flat concrete beneath the drainage pipe offered an uninterrupted plane. I lowered myself onto one knee to assess the grid pattern formed by the patio tile seams. Nearby, water had condensed along the base of an overturned plastic tray, trapping a dry fallen leaf on an awkward tilt. Using the smooth outer curve of my right luminescent disc, I aligned the leaf against the seam, smoothing its spine flat to restore order to the surface. It rested firmly in symmetry. Balance achieved, I stood back to scan the adjacent planter.
