Excavating the Clay Basin
Time to head toward the daylight! I marched out from the kitchen across the hallway floorboards and slipped straight through the open balcony glass door. Right beside the railing sat a colossal terracotta flowerpot, resting in a wide saucer. Heh, a true quarry! I scrambled up onto the terracotta lip, hauled my pickaxe up with both paws, and tapped the rim. Clink! Clean, ringy sound, totally uncracked. Down in the dish below, I spotted two round, smooth landscaping pebbles resting in dry brown soil. I wedged my pickaxe point under the flatter grey stone, gave a joyful tug, and rolled it loose to inspect the solid bedrock beneath. Outstanding quarry materials out here!
