A Matter of Calibration
I navigated from the soft quilt onto the lacquered expanse of the nearby writing desk, seeking firmer footing. There, a brass pocket watch and an open ledger caught my attention. The grid of ruled red lines offered a far more logical framework than uneven bedding. I edged forward, placing one elongated foot precisely along the margin rule. Beside it lay a solitary Swiss franc coin. Its metallic reeded edge was intriguing; I leaned gently against its rim to gauge its weight and diameter against my own stature. It did not budge, standing resolute. A commendable standard of solid currency.
