A Rolling Intercept
A runaway green plastic bottle cap rolled past the fringe of the rug just as evening settled in. I tracked its wobbly orbit from behind my aviators, letting it slow down on its own. When it wobbled near the wooden table leg, I stepped forward and tapped it flat with one plush paw. Underneath was a smooth glass marble that had been trapped there all day. I nudged the marble with my nose, sending it gliding silently across the floorboards until it rested safely against the skirting board. A quiet evening patrol, neatly wrapped up.
