A Way Beyond the Glass
I climbed from the high counter ridge straight onto the sunny wooden sill beside the kitchen window. The view opened entirely into the green world outside. Right beside a small potted succulent, I discovered an unlatched brass window sash catch resting slightly ajar. I planted my feet against the painted sill and pressed firmly with both paws against the smooth brass bar. It clicked softly, revealing a narrow gap where fresh mountain air flowed in. Our horizon just expanded past the walls.
